Irina Härm was born in Karjala in 1962. She is a citizen of Estonia.
In 1980 she graduated from the Tallinn State Choreographic Academy.
In 1980/81 she danced at the State Theatre "Vanemuine" and in 1981/82 with the Moscow "Chamber Ballet" company.
In 1982 she returned to Tallinn and began working at the State Opera Ballet Theatre "Estonia", first as dancer, later as soloist, and a Principal Dancer.

She has toured extensively in about 20 countries around the world with concerts groups as well as "Estonia" ballet company.
In 1992 she moved to Milano, Italy, for family reasons but continued to work as free-lance dancer in Finland ( Savonlinna Festival), Slovenia (Slovenian National Ballet), and in Italy with the company of Carla Fracci.
In 1992 she began to give ballet lessons for professional dancers:
- in Milano at the Teatro Carcano and "Dimenzione Danza"
- in Roma at the Institute for the professional artists (IALS - Instituto Addestramento Lavoratori Spettacolo)
- in Reggio Emilia at the "Let's Dance" School, etc.
In 1997/98 she taught at the Milano Professional School S.P.I.D. (Scuola professionale Italiana Danza).
She has also been repetiteur and assistant of the choreographer in the productions of "Giselle" in 1989 for the Gothenborg Ballet in Sweden; of Prokofiev/Tiit Härm "Romeo and Juliet" for the Slovenia National Ballet in 1995 and in 1998 for the same production, at the Grand theatre in Bordeaux (France).
As of November 1998 she is participating in the two-years' "Corso per Maitres de Ballet" at La Scala in Milano.
In July 2000 she graduated from the La Scala as Maitre de Ballet. In the season 2000/01 she taught (danza classica and carattere) in Milano at the Teatro Carcano (Scuola europea di danza e di teatro).
From the season 2001/2002 she is maitre and professur and also assistant of the choreographer for some production in Estonian National Opera Ballet.
